THE SYSTEM

How the numbering works

01

The ordinary example follows District + serial.

02

The first letter identifies a voivodeship and the rest of the prefix narrows the county or city.

03

The integrated or adjacent international identifier is PL.

04

Motorcycles, trailers and restricted mounting spaces may use a dedicated stacked or compact physical format.

05

Diplomatic, temporary, trade, historic or public-service vehicles use protected combinations that sit outside the ordinary sequence.

GOOD TO KNOW

Three road-side clues

The first letter identifies a voivodeship and the rest of the prefix narrows the county or city.

The PL identifier distinguishes the country in international traffic.

Special-series colours and codes are legal status markers rather than decorative alternatives.
