Registration plates sit at the intersection of design, administration and identity. They reveal how countries organise territory, track vehicles and mark exceptional uses—from diplomats and dealers to military and historic fleets.
The atlas covers the 50 generally recognised sovereign states included by broad geographic or political definitions of Europe, plus Kosovo as a separately documented registration system. This includes transcontinental Kazakhstan as well as the European microstates. Examples are illustrative and written for curiosity, not legal identification or enforcement.
